Fabregas takes over as Arsenal captain

Cesc Fabregas has been named the new captain of Arsenal. The 21 year old takes over from William Gallas after comments he made about his fellow team mates.
The former Arsenal Skipper criticised the players for in-fighting and a lack of bravery, with his actions seeing him being stripped of his captain duty, and out of the squad for last weekends defeat against Manchester City.

Fabregas will have his first test as captain on Sunday this weekend against Chelsea.

Fine for Moyes

David Moyes has been handed a £5000 fine after being sent to the stands in the Everton game against Stoke on 14 September. Referee Alan Wiley failed to give what Moyes thought as a penalty to the Toffees after a suspected hand ball by Leon Court a Stoke defender.
Moyes has admitted the charge and issued an apology to the referee.

Injury hit England side

Injuries are running through out the England team with Steven Gerrard pulling out the squad to face Germany on Wednesday night with a groin injury and Frank Lampard with his rib.
Fabio Capello has called up Fulham's Jimmy Bullard with Scott Parker of West Ham to replace the injured duo. Manchester United players Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Wes Brown are unable to face the Germans adding worry to Capellos team selection.

However this is an opportunity for Capello to experiment with the England side picking Chelsea defender, Micheal Mancienne, 20 who is currently on loan at Wolves. This is a surprise entry to the squad as he has has not yet made an appearance in the Premier League.

Lampard wary of United

Frank Lampard has insisted that even though Manchester United are eight points behind with a game in hand, they are still major contenders for the league title at the end of the season.

Man U who lost 2-1 at the weekend to Arsenal, lost out on a chance to keep the gap between the joint league leaders Chelsea and Liverpool to five points.

The previous season saw Chelsea chasing Manchester United for the whole season, so they know the hard task that awaits them if Chelsea and Liverpool continue to maintain their success.

Chelsea have bounced back after a 3 -1 defeat against Roma last week, with a 2-0 win over Blackburn. However Lampard says Chelsea have to continue playing well as if you get a couple of bad results then it can all turn around.
